We have all been there...what feels like a million tasks to do and no idea where to start.
After researching different ways to increase our productivity we came across the Pomodoro Method and it's been working a treat over at Circle HQ!
What is it?
The Pomodoro Technique was developed by Francesco Cirillo when he was studying at college and realised he was easily distracted and not using his time effectively. He grabbed a tomato shaped timer (hence the name 'Pomodoro' which is Italian for tomato. Did you know that? I didn't! I did German at school. Badly.)
Anyway, Cirillo developed a technique where he worked solidly for 25 minutes followed by a 5 minute break and found this was a total game changer.
How does it work?
Each 25 minute block is called a Pomodoro. The focused 25 minute block of working followed by a 5 minute break keeps your mind fresh and on target. By sticking to this fixed time to work you can complete tasks more quickly. Win win.
The idea is to do 4 consecutive Pomodoro's followed by a longer break of 20-30 minutes. If during a Pomodoro something else pops into your mind then you write it down and continue on your task for that Pomodoro. The idea is that with each Pomodoro you get more effective at managing your time, completing your tasks faster and generally feeling like a total badass.
How do I do it?
A good old fashioned timer is all you need and there are also lots of apps available. We have been trialling the Focus Keeper app which is free and has been keeping us productive! This blog was posted in 1 Pomodoro. *High fives herself*
Have you tried this method? Or have you got some suggestion for us to try? Let us know!
Wishing you a productive week :)
